Political Tension Heightens as Nepal's Opposition Stages Boycott

In Nepal, four opposition parties boycotted the House of Representatives meeting, insisting that Prime Minister Balendra Shah attend to address governmental policy inquiries. Despite protests and a walkout, Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle provided responses on behalf of the Prime Minister. The incident followed prior disruptions by opposition lawmakers.

On Thursday, tensions escalated in Nepal's House of Representatives as four opposition parties staged a boycott. Their central demand was the presence of Prime Minister Balendra Shah to answer questions regarding the government's policies and programmes.

The protest unfolded as Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle took the floor to respond on behalf of the Prime Minister. Members of the CPN-UML, Nepal Communist Party, Shram Sanskriti Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party walked out of the meeting, showcasing their dissatisfaction while ruling party lawmakers expressed their dissent by standing up during the Minister's address.

This development followed a previous disruption when Speaker Devraj Ghimire adjourned a meeting due to opposition unrest. Despite the political turmoil, Minister Wagle continued the session, emphasizing the government's commitment to addressing these critical concerns.
