Alleged Assault Sparks Controversy in Bareilly

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a biryani vendor inside a hotel in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, according to police reports. The accused, Baheri resident Mujahid, aged 25, has been apprehended following the complaint lodged by the survivor.

The incident, which took place around 11 pm on Thursday, has drawn significant attention, with the Bhaharhi Circle Officer Arun Singh confirming the registration of the case under section 64(1) (rape) of the BNS and the POCSO Act. As Mujahid undergoes interrogation, the victim has been sent for a medical examination.

The event has incited a protest led by the Hindu Jagran Manch Yuva, claiming that the hotel has become a center for 'love jihad' activities. Himanshu Patel, the district president, expressed concerns about minors being allowed to stay without verification, citing multiple complaints. Authorities are currently investigating, reviewing hotel records and CCTV footage.
