The Thane district in Maharashtra witnessed a gruesome crime reminiscent of the notorious Meerut 'blue drum' murder case. In March 2025, a woman in Mumbra was arrested for allegedly killing her lover with the help of her relatives and then concealing his body in a storage container.
This chilling crime follows the infamous 2023 case in Meerut, where the murder of merchant navy officer Saurabh Rajput by his wife and her lover shook the nation. It was notable for its grisly details, including placing the victim's dismembered body parts into a concrete-sealed blue drum.
Thane police recently cracked the case of civil engineer Arbaz Khan, leading to the arrest of nurse Mehjabin Sheikh and her brother Tariq. The motive was a failed extortion plot, culminating in Khan's brutal murder and disposal in a nullah after being lured to Vasai.
