Swedish Man Charged with Espionage: Attempted Secrets Trade with Russia

A 34-year-old former Swedish armed forces employee has been charged with attempted espionage for Russia. The man is accused of planning to disclose classified information to Russian intelligence officials in Moscow. His trial is set to commence in Stockholm on June 15.

Swedish prosecutors have charged a 34-year-old former military employee with attempted espionage. The man allegedly attempted to hand over classified information to Russia.

According to prosecutors, the suspect traveled to Moscow in November 2025 to meet Russian intelligence representatives. Efforts to reach the Russian embassy for comment were unsuccessful.

The accused has been held in detention since January and will stand trial in Stockholm starting June 15.
