PM Modi Calls for United Push Towards Viksit Bharat by 2047 at NITI Aayog Meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 11th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog in New Delhi, bringing together Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors and Administrators from across the country to discuss the roadmap for building a developed India by 2047. Held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, the meeting focused on the theme Inclusive Human Development for Viksit Bharat@2047. The gathering marked a significant milestone as Chief Ministers from all 28 States participated in the Governing Council meeting for the first time.
Addressing the leaders, Prime Minister Modi said India's growth story continues to stand out at a time when several major economies are facing uncertainty and economic pressures. He stressed the need to strengthen self-reliance while adopting global best practices, especially in sectors such as renewable energy.
Youth, Women and Innovation at the Centre of Development Vision
The Prime Minister underlined the importance of cooperative federalism and said the goal of a developed India can only be achieved through joint efforts by the Centre and States. He urged every State, district, block and village to make the vision of Viksit Bharat their own mission.
Highlighting India's demographic strength, Modi said nearly 70 crore Indians are below the age of 25, making young people the country's greatest asset. He called on States to invest in education, skill development and capacity building so that this demographic advantage translates into long-term economic growth.
The Prime Minister also encouraged States to help youth and micro, small and medium enterprises benefit from India's recent trade agreements with several countries. He urged them to attract investments from partner nations and create new economic opportunities.
Focusing on women-led development, Modi called for increasing the number of Lakhpati Didis from 3 crore to 6 crore and stressed the need to provide a safe and supportive environment for women across the country.
States Urged to Focus on Exports, Agriculture and Future Industries
Prime Minister Modi encouraged States to strengthen One District One Product (ODOP) initiatives and build export-oriented strategies around local strengths. He also highlighted defence manufacturing as a rapidly growing sector where India is making significant progress and asked States to position themselves to benefit from emerging opportunities.
Addressing social and environmental concerns, he called for stronger action against drug abuse and cyber fraud through awareness campaigns and preventive measures. He also urged States to promote water conservation, natural farming and organic agriculture in view of changing climate conditions and concerns linked to El Niño.
The Prime Minister proposed identifying 100 agriculture-focused districts using an aspirational district approach to drive targeted improvements. He also emphasized setting measurable 100-day and five-year goals backed by effective monitoring systems.
Good governance, transparency, ease of doing business and infrastructure development were highlighted as key factors for attracting investment. Modi pointed to emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence and data centres as major growth opportunities and encouraged States to prepare their workforce for future demands.
The Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors and Administrators congratulated the Prime Minister on completing 12 years in office and reaffirmed their support for strengthening India's resilience amid global challenges. Concluding the meeting, Modi expressed confidence that cooperation, innovation and shared commitment would accelerate India's journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.
