Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said that locals should get preference in jobs and if required strong legislation will be enacted for this purpose. "Bhumiputras (sons of the soil) should get employment in Multi-Modal International Passenger and Cargo Hub Airport (MIHAN) and strong legislation will be brought if needed," he said during the ground-breaking ceremony of a new campus of India Institute of Management (IIM) in Nagpur.

"As many as 1.25 lakh jobs will be generated through Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) in the coming years. I have directed the officials to employ at least 80 per cent local people from Konkan region." Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was also present in the event.
