28-year-old kills stepmother after getting drunk

A 28-year-old man allegedly killed his stepmother in a seaside village of Odisha's Kendrapara district on Thursday, police said. Binod Ghadei picked up a quarrel with stepmother Binita Ghadei, 56, after she scolded him for being drunk at their Babar village house under Tantiapala Marine police station limits.

The accused then hit her on the head with a hammer killing her. The assailant later surrendered before the police and was found repentant for committing the crime, police said.

He was remanded to judicial custody.
