2 teachers, returning from poll duty, killed in road accident

Two teachers returning from election duty died in a road accident in the early hours of Friday near Umred village, about 40 kilometres from here, police said. The two were part of a group of four teachers who were travelling by car after poll duty in Hinganghat, an official said.

"Between 3:30-4am, the vehicle crashed into a tree near Mouza-Champa village, killing Nukesh Mendhule (39) on the spot and Pundalik Bahe (55) a little later in hospital," said assistant sub-inspector Pramod Raut. He identified the injured as Narendra Pipre (45), who was driving the car, and Vijay Baharupi (49).

A case has been registered against the car's driver, he said..
