Sri Lanka set to launch Border Management Strategy

The motive of border management is to uphold and enhance national security. Migration and trade need to go on with intelligence-driven principles.

The border management department in Sri Lanka is set to launch a new strategy to manage border with support from the UN Migration Agency and International Organisation for Migrants.

The new policy will seek to promote inter-agency collaboration to improve the border environment which will include enhanced risk detection capabilities with its prevention.

The autonomy of individual border agencies will not be undermined and it'll go parallel with other capacities enhancement programmes thus sought.

The motive of border management is to uphold and enhance national security. Migration and trade need to go on with intelligence-driven principles.

This will help in assessing and clearing the majority of people and goods quickly and expanding resource on only those goods or persons which require inception.

The agencies involved in these processes will require to review policies and the practices that impact on migration.

Sri Lanka is getting support from IOM as a part of assistance programme funded by the Australian Government through its Home Department.
