Open Indian visa office in Comilla or Brahmanbaria dist of Bangladesh: Tripura to MEA

The Tripura Assembly Friday unanimously passed a resolution to request the Ministry of External Affairs to open an 'Indian visa office' either in Comilla or Brahmanbaria district of Bangladesh to attract more tourists from the neighbouring country.
At present, people of Comilla and Brahmanbaria get their Indian visa from the office of the Assistant High Commission of India in Chittagong which is far away from their
district BJP MLA Binay Bhushan Das moved a private members resolution which stated that Tripura could be converted into a major tourist spot and can attract thousands of tourists if the Centre simplify the visa rules and set up a visa office either in Comilla or Brahmanbaria district of Bangladesh which are very close to the Indo-Bangla border in Tripura.
Comilla district town in Bangladesh is just 10-km from Sonamura town in Tripura's Sipahijala district and Brahmanbaria district of Bangladesh is just 7-Km from the

Former Tourism minister and opposition CPI(M) MLA Ratan Bhaumick supported the resolution said the opposition would support the resolution and said that most of the
tourists come to Tripura from neighbouring Bangladesh.
