BJP Leads in Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Election

The BJP is leading in 16 assembly seats in Arunachal Pradesh, with the National People’s Party ahead in four constituencies, according to the Election Commission. The BJP had already won 10 seats unopposed in the 60-member assembly. Counting of votes began at 6 am, with considerable turnout despite the rain.

The ruling BJP in Arunachal Pradesh is leading in 16 assembly seats, the Election Commission of India reported. The National People’s Party (NPP) follows with a lead in four constituencies.

Count for 50 assembly seats in the northeastern state commenced at 6 am. The BJP had already secured 10 seats unopposed in the 60-member assembly during the first phase on April 19, held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls.

The People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) leads in two seats, while the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress are ahead in one seat each. An Independent candidate also takes the lead in one seat. Despite the rain, hundreds of supporters were seen near the counting centres.
