The BJP is poised for a sweeping victory in both Lok Sabha seats in Arunachal Pradesh as vote counting continues, election officials reported on Tuesday.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju is notably ahead in the Arunachal West seat, leading by 62,161 votes over Congress contender Nabam Tuki.

In the Arunachal East Lok Sabha seat, BJP's current MP Tapir Gao has a lead of 17,576 votes against Bosiram Siram of the Congress.

During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured these seats with margins exceeding one lakh votes, and with the current trends, history appears to be repeating itself. The state went to polls in the first phase on April 16, which coincided with the assembly elections.

In the concurrent state assembly elections, the ruling BJP clinched 46 out of 60 seats. The National People’s Party (NPEP) followed with five seats, NCP with three, People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) with two, Congress with one, and independents capturing the remaining three seats.

A diverse group of 14 candidates vied for parliamentary representation, including eight competing for the West seat.
