BJP Leads in Odisha Assembly Elections, BJD and Congress Trail
The BJP is leading in 76 assembly seats in Odisha, according to the Election Commission of India. The Biju Janata Dal is ahead in 53 seats, while Congress is leading in 16. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is leading in both Hinjili and Kantabanji assembly seats. Several ministers are trailing.

The BJP is currently ahead in 76 assembly seats in Odisha, as per the latest update from the Election Commission of India. In contrast, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is leading in 53 constituencies out of the 147 seats where trends are available so far. The Congress party is ahead in 16 seats, while the CPI (M) and an Independent candidate lead in one seat each.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is leading in both Assembly seats—Hinjili and Kantabanji. However, at least eight ministers from Naveen Patnaik’s cabinet are trailing. These include Forest and Environment Minister Pradip Kumar Amat, Works Minister Prafulla Kumar Mallik, Higher Education Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Transport Minister Tukuni Sahu, Science and Technology Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, Finance Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha, Handlooms & Textiles Minister Rita Sahu, and Women & Child Development Minister Basanti Hembram, as per the ECI.
Additionally, CPI (M) candidate and sitting MLA Laxman Munda is leading in the Bonai assembly constituency, while Independent candidate Soumya Ranjan Patnaik is leading in the Ghasipura MLA seat over BJD nominee Badri Narayan Patra.
