Bijuli Kalita Medhi Leads in Guwahati's Hotly Contested Parliament Seat

Bijuli Kalita Medhi of BJP leads over Congress's Mira Borthakur Goswami in Guwahati parliamentary constituency by 1.8 lakh votes. Medhi has received 5,52,892 votes while Goswami has secured 3,70,837. Medhi, who replaced sitting MP Queen Ojha, is the state party vice-president and ex-deputy mayor of Guwahati.

BJP's Bijuli Kalita Medhi has taken a substantial lead over her Congress rival Mira Borthakur Goswami in the highly competitive Guwahati parliamentary constituency, election officials reported. Medhi's vote count has reached 5,52,892, while Goswami has garnered 3,70,837 votes.

Replacing the sitting MP Queen Ojha, Medhi not only serves as the state party's vice-president but also holds the experience of being the former deputy mayor of Guwahati.

Guwahati, known as the gateway to the North East and South East Asia, stands unique as the only constituency where a direct contest between two women has occurred for two consecutive terms.
