Despite her vibrant profile, Latha faced a significant defeat, losing to Owaisi by over 3.38 lakh votes. Known for her strong Hindutva stance, she surprised many when her candidacy was announced.

Latha's campaign was marred by controversies, including a complaint for allegedly hurting Muslim sentiments and another incident on polling day where she was booked for asking burqa-clad women to show their faces to match photo IDs.
