Punjab's Priority: Modi Picks Defeated Bittu for Ministerial Role

BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu will join Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi's council of ministers, despite his defeat in the Ludhiana Lok Sabha polls. Bittu, who switched from Congress to BJP, stated that Punjab's progress is prioritized by the NDA government. Bittu aims to address debt and drug issues in Punjab.

BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu on Sunday stated that Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi has selected him for induction into his council of ministers, despite losing the Ludhiana seat in the Lok Sabha polls. This decision reflects the BJP-led NDA government's commitment to Punjab's progress.

Bittu, a three-term former Congress MP, joined the BJP prior to the Lok Sabha polls and contested the Ludhiana seat on a BJP ticket. He was defeated by Congress candidate Amrinder Singh Raja Warring.

Bittu revealed that he left Congress to ensure Punjab's representation in the Union government and expressed a desire not to serve in the opposition for a fourth term. The BJP acknowledged his vision by offering him a ministerial berth, emphasizing Punjab’s importance regardless of electoral outcomes. Bittu aims to help the NDA government bring Punjab back on track, tackling issues such as debt and drug abuse.
