J P Nadda Takes Charge of Union Health Ministry: A Revamp in Modi’s Cabinet

BJP President J P Nadda has assumed control of the Union Health Ministry, alongside the Chemicals and Fertilizers Ministry. Both portfolios were previously held by Mansukh Mandaviya. Nadda, accompanied by Ministers of State Anupriya Patel and Prataprao Jadhav, began by discussing the government's 100-day agenda with Health Ministry officials.

BJP President J P Nadda took the reins of the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday, in a move marking a significant reshuffle within Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet.

Previously managed by Mansukh Mandaviya, the Health Ministry and the Chemicals and Fertilizers Ministry are now under Nadda's purview. He swiftly commenced his duties by engaging with senior officials, outlining the government's immediate 100-day focus, particularly on expanding the Ayushman Bharat scheme to individuals aged 70 and above.

Nadda, who previously held the health portfolio during Modi's first term, returns to a familiar role while also navigating his responsibilities as BJP President. The leadership transition within the ministry underscores the Modi administration's strategic realignment as it prepares for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
