Clash in West Bank: Hamas Commander Killed, Israel Loses Soldiers in Rafah Explosion
Hamas reported the death of commander Mohammed Jaber Abdo in a West Bank clash with Israeli forces. Simultaneously, four Israeli soldiers died in a Rafah explosion. The surge in violence follows Hamas' October 7 attack, with the Palestinian Health Ministry confirming over 530 Palestinian deaths. UN reports suggest possible war crimes by both sides.
Hamas has announced the death of one of its commanders, Mohammed Jaber Abdo, in a clash with Israeli forces in the West Bank. This incident coincided with a tragedy for Israel as four of its soldiers were killed in an explosion in Rafah, Gaza Strip.
Hamas stated that Abdo and three other fighters were killed near Ramallah. Israeli forces claimed they were pursuing a suspect linked to an attack on a Jewish settlement. The joint Israeli army and police operation resulted in a confrontation when the suspects allegedly tried to escape, leading to a fatal exchange of gunfire.
Violence in the West Bank has escalated since Hamas' attack into southern Israel on October 7. Over 530 Palestinians have been killed amidst the ongoing conflict, with the United Nations raising concerns about potential war crimes committed by both Israeli forces and Palestinian armed groups.
