U.S. Bolsters Ukraine's Defense with Additional Patriot Missile System

The United States is sending another Patriot missile system to Ukraine in response to its urgent requests for air defenses amid Russia's relentless assault on the Kharkiv region. The United States is responding to Ukraine's urgent calls for air defenses by sending another Patriot missile system, according to two US officials. This development comes as Ukraine faces an intense Russian siege in the northeastern Kharkiv region.

US President Joe Biden has greenlit the move, making it the second Patriot system the US has dispatched to Ukraine. Besides, the Pentagon has consistently supplied an undisclosed number of missiles for the system. Allies, including Germany, have contributed air defense systems and munitions as well.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently underscored the need for more Patriot systems to thwart Russian attacks on power grids, civilian spots, and military targets. Defense leaders from the US, Europe, and other nations will converge in Brussels to discuss Ukraine's security needs further.
