BJP Fires Back Over Pro-tem Speaker Controversy

After Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Congress criticized the Centre for not appointing Kodikunnil Suresh as the pro-tem Speaker, BJP retaliated, suggesting that Congress make Suresh the Opposition leader in the Lok Sabha. BJP state chief K Surendran suggested that making Suresh the Opposition leader would be a fitting protest against the Centre’s decision. The debate underscores persistent concerns about following and interpreting parliamentary norms.
