The INDIA bloc's leadership is set to convene on Tuesday night to finalize their approach for the upcoming Lok Sabha Speaker's election. Amid rising tensions, Congress pointed fingers at the government, asserting that it is their responsibility to reach a consensus by offering the deputy speaker's position to the opposition, as per tradition.
Discontent brewed within the bloc as TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee revealed that his party wasn't consulted about fielding Congress's Kodikunnil Suresh as the joint nominee. The decision now falls upon party chief Mamata Banerjee.
Top brass from the INDIA bloc will gather at Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge's residence to strategize, while speculations mount over their next move. The Lok Sabha Speaker's election is slated for Wednesday morning, with the NDA holding a numerical edge.
