China Expels Former Defense Minister Li Shangfu Amid Violations
China's Communist Party expelled former defense minister Li Shangfu for serious disciplinary and law violations. Li, who also served on the Central Military Commission and as a state councilor, lost his qualification as a delegate to the 20th CPC National Congress, according to Xinhua news agency.

China's Communist Party on Thursday expelled former defense minister Li Shangfu for serious disciplinary and law violations, state news agency Xinhua reported.
Li, who also formerly served as a member of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, was deprived of his qualification as a delegate to the 20th CPC National Congress, Xinhua added.
