Sanjay Raut Takes Jibe At Modi's Russian Honour

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored with Russia's highest civilian award during his visit to Moscow, sparking sharp commentary from Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MP Sanjay Raut. Raut remarked that Russian President Vladimir Putin can grant awards at will, given the absence of any opposition in Russia. "Putin is the owner of his country. There is no opposition there. He can give an award to anyone in this way," Raut commented.

He went on to note, "Before this, many Prime Ministers of the country have received the honour. Manmohan Singh ji has received it, Indira ji has received it, it is a tradition. What is new in it?" On Tuesday, PM Modi accepted the Order of St Andrew the Apostle from President Vladimir Putin, in recognition of his efforts to foster India-Russia partnership and friendship. Modi expressed his gratitude, calling the award a 'samman' for 140 crore Indians and a testament to the long-standing friendship between the two nations.

Modi emphasized that the relationship between India and Russia continues to invigorate global prosperity. During his two-day trip, which concluded on Tuesday, the Prime Minister also engaged with the Indian diaspora in Moscow before heading to Austria.

In his speech, Modi highlighted the significant contributions of the Indian community to strengthening India-Russia ties, further enhancing bilateral relations.
