NATO allies have issued their strongest condemnation of China to date, calling it a 'decisive enabler' of Russia's war in Ukraine. In a stern communiqué issued at their Washington summit, NATO expressed alarm over China's burgeoning nuclear capabilities and space advancements.

The communiqué, endorsed by all 32 NATO members, emphasizes that China is increasingly seen as a central focus for the military alliance, with European and North American members viewing shared security threats emanating from Russo-Chinese cooperation. China, however, denies backing Russia's war efforts, maintaining it has only normal trade relations with its northern neighbor.

Referencing China's 'no-limits partnership' with Russia and significant support for Russia's defense sector, NATO's statement highlighted the escalating threat to Euro-Atlantic security. The alliance called on China, a permanent UN Security Council member, to stop its material and political assistance to Russia. On their part, Beijing criticized NATO's expanding presence in Asia, warning against inciting regional tensions.
