A committee formed by the AICC to assess Congress's dismal showing in the Telangana Lok Sabha polls convened meetings on Thursday with the candidates who participated in the elections.

Headed by senior leader P J Kurien, the three-member committee is investigating the party's strengths and weaknesses to bolster the party's future prospects. Congress Lok Sabha member Kadiam Kavya shared insights with the panel about the party's performance areas.

MLA Danam Nagender, who competed in the Secunderabad constituency, outlined the deficiencies that led to the electoral setbacks. Nagender remains optimistic about future wins in Secunderabad.

State Congress Working President Mahesh Kumar Goud and other senior members also engaged with the committee.

Arriving in Hyderabad on Wednesday night, the committee panel includes members Rakibul Hussain and Pargat Singh.

Established by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, the committee is one of several formed to scrutinize poor electoral performance in states like Karnataka, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, and Uttarakhand.

Congress Lok Sabha member Mallu Ravi noted that, despite winning only three seats in 2019, Congress secured eight out of 17 seats in Telangana in the recent elections, outperforming the BJP in vote percentage.

Ravi also claimed that the BRS transferred its votes to the BJP, helping it win eight Lok Sabha seats in the state.
