Escalation in Ukraine: Lives Lost and Infrastructures Targeted Amid Drone Strikes

Russian shelling in Ukraine resulted in the deaths of three people on Saturday, officials reported, as both nations engaged in reciprocal drone strikes, one of which set a Russian oil depot ablaze.
In Ukraine's partly occupied Kherson region, two people were killed and two were wounded near the regional capital, according to Governor Oleksandr Prokudin. Another fatality and 16 injuries occurred in the northeastern Kharkiv region, stated Governor Oleh Syniehubov.
An oil depot in Russia's southwestern Rostov region's Tsimlyansky district caught fire early Saturday due to a Ukrainian drone attack, marking the latest long-range strike by Kyiv on a border region.
Ukrainian forces have increased aerial assaults on Russian soil, aiming at refineries and oil terminals to impede the Kremlin's war efforts. Meanwhile, the Russian military pushes hard along the eastern Ukraine front, where defenders face a shortage of troops and ammunition in the war's third year.
Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev reported that the drone attack ignited a 200-square-meter fire, with no casualties. The fire was extinguished about five hours later, as reported on Telegram.
Russian air defenses intercepted two drones over the Rostov region and destroyed two more over the Kursk and Belgorod regions, the Ministry of Defence reported.
Ukraine also intercepted four out of five drones sent by Russia overnight, leaving one drone to move towards Belarus, the Ukrainian air force noted. Eight injuries were reported in Shebekino, Belgorod region, following shelling, stated Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.
Vadym Filashkin, governor of the partially occupied Donetsk region, mentioned that Russian attacks on Friday had killed six people and wounded 22.
