“He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility,” Steven Cheung, Trump spokesperson, said amidst reports of possible gunshots at the rally. Blood was seen on Trump's face and ear as he reached toward his neck. Multiple reports stated that several gunshots were heard while Trump was addressing the crowd.
The Secret Service immediately escorted Trump to a safe location. He was seen pumping his fist in the air, with the crowd cheering, as the Secret Service led him away.
The White House confirmed that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have been briefed on the incident. “President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act,” Cheung added.
