Donald Trump was shot in the ear during a campaign rally on Saturday, following a significant security lapse. This attack is likely to reshape this year’s presidential race and intensify fears of political violence.

In the immediate aftermath, Trump, covered by his security, emerged with his face streaked with blood, defiantly pumping his fist in the air. The Trump campaign later confirmed he was "doing well." The FBI identified 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the assailant. He was a registered Republican.

The Secret Service reported that the shooter was dead and additional casualties included one dead attendee and two injured spectators. Trump's shooting occurred shortly after he began his speech, and he was swiftly evacuated by Secret Service agents. The FBI has taken the lead in the investigation and expressed surprise at the suspect's ability to fire multiple shots.
