Despite securing several judicial reliefs, former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan continues to face legal challenges and remains in custody, along with his wife, Bushra Bibi.
Recently, a district and session court overturned their conviction in an un-Islamic marriage case. This decision came on the heels of a Supreme Court ruling enabling Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party to claim reserved seats in the national and provincial assemblies, thus making PTI the largest party in the National Assembly with 109 seats.
However, Khan and his wife were subsequently apprehended by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a new Toshakhana corruption case, alleging that they misappropriated state gifts. Amid a series of cases since his ouster in 2022, Khan has maintained a confrontational stance against the Army leadership and the establishment, further complicating his legal predicaments.
