BJP Targets Gehlot Over Phone Tapping Controversy

The BJP has accused former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot of illegal phone tapping to save his government. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and State Education Minister Madan Dilawar criticized Gehlot after an audio clip surfaced, allegedly proving Gehlot's involvement in intercepting conversations during a political crisis in 2020.

The BJP launched an attack on former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday following the online release of an audio clip purportedly involving him and his ex-OSD, Lokesh Sharma. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat accused Gehlot of illegal phone tapping to preserve his government.

In April, Sharma disclosed at a press conference that Gehlot had provided him with a pen drive containing call recordings between Shekhawat and Congress leaders aimed at toppling the state government in 2020. These recordings recently surfaced on social media, reigniting the controversy.

State Education Minister Madan Dilawar also criticized Gehlot, alleging that the former CM conspired to tap phones to safeguard his position. Dilawar noted that the people of Rajasthan now recognize Gehlot’s betrayal. The revelations have intensified the political discourse in the state.
