India and Germany Prepare for High-Level Diplomatic Engagement

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday held talks with Germany's state secretary of foreign office Thomas Bagger, with a strong focus on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's scheduled visit to India later this year.

Bagger is currently visiting India, primarily to coordinate preparations for Scholz's expected trip to New Delhi around October, according to individuals familiar with the development.

'Good to meet Dr Thomas Bagger, State Secretary in German Federal Foreign Office. Noted the progress made in the India-Germany strategic partnership,' Jaishankar stated on X.

'Look forward to a productive meeting of the 7th Inter-Governmental Consultations later this year,' he added.

The Inter-Governmental Consultations signify the highest-level forum for discussions on India-Germany relations.
