BJP Protests Over 'Rising' Electricity Bills in Delhi

BJP leaders and workers protested in Delhi against rising electricity bills and demanded the withdrawal of the Power Purchase Adjustment Charges (PPAC). AAP refuted these claims, accusing the BJP of spreading false information. BJP leaders insisted on continuing protests until the hike is retracted.

On Monday, BJP leaders and workers staged protests outside power distribution company (discom) offices across Delhi, decrying the 'rising' electricity bills and demanding the withdrawal of the increment in Power Purchase Adjustment Charges (PPAC).

In a strong rebuttal, the ruling AAP accused the BJP of 'misleading Delhiites by spreading rumours' about the alleged hike in electricity prices. 'The BJP should stop these theatrics and focus on constructive politics,' the AAP asserted in a statement.

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva emphasized that consumers are struggling with the increased PPAC, a surcharge meant to cover fluctuations in power purchase costs. 'The Delhi government is looting the consumers in the name of PPAC and pension surcharges. PPAC is illegal and should be withdrawn immediately,' he said.
