The FBI continues investigating the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump during a Pennsylvania rally. The attack resulted in the death of a former fire chief, who shielded his family from gunfire. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, acted alone, according to authorities.
Crooks managed to reach a nearby rooftop and fire an AR-style rifle, injuring two men and piercing Trump’s ear. Secret Service agents quickly neutralized the gunman, as Trump was immediately covered and taken to safety. Investigators have not yet determined Crooks' motive.
The incident casts a pall over the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, with heightened security expected. Trump vowed resilience as the event proceeds and his party officially nominates him.
