PM Modi to Address UNGA Amid Global Leaders' High-Level Debate

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the high-level UN General Assembly session on September 26. The assembly, set to run from September 24-30, will also see speeches by global leaders including Joe Biden. Modi last attended the UNGA in 2021.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to address the high-level UN General Assembly session on September 26, according to a provisional list of speakers released by the UN.

The high-level General Debate of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly will be held from September 24-30. Modi is scheduled to speak in the afternoon of September 26. The provisional list may be updated to reflect changes in attendance, schedules, and speaking slots.

Brazil, traditionally the first speaker, will open the session on September 24, with US President Joe Biden also addressing the assembly. Modi, now in his historic third term, last addressed the annual UNGA session in September 2021. He visited the UN headquarters last June for the Yoga Day commemoration and a State Visit to Washington DC.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will present his report before the General Debate begins, followed by an address from the President of the 79th session of the General Assembly. Guterres will also convene the Summit of the Future on September 22-23. World leaders will adopt the Pact for the Future, which includes a Global Digital Compact and a Declaration on Future Generations.
