Ukraine's military has retreated from the village of Urozhaine in the eastern Donetsk region, an official said Thursday, marking another tactical withdrawal as Russian forces intensify their offensive.

The village, devastated to the point of being indefensible, was abandoned as Ukrainian defenses collapsed under the weight of sustained Russian attacks, according to Nazar Voloshyn, spokesperson for local ground forces.

Despite improvements in Ukrainian firepower following U.S. military aid, the Russian offensive has continued unabated, leaving towns and villages in ruins and pushing Ukrainian forces back. European leaders met in England to discuss increased support for Ukraine, which is adopting a strategy of tactical retreat to stronger defensive positions while conducting long-range strikes on Russian assets.
