Trump and Zelenskiy Discuss Potential Phone Call Amid 2024 Campaign
Associates of Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskiy are in talks to set up a phone call between the two leaders. Sources indicate the call may happen on Friday, though confirmation is pending. Trump, running for the 2024 U.S. presidential election, has expressed intentions to end the Ukraine war if elected.
Associates close to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy are reportedly in discussions to arrange a phone call between the two leaders, according to sources familiar with the discussions.
One source indicated that the phone call could potentially take place on Friday. However, Reuters has not been able to independently verify if the conversation, which would be their first interaction since Trump left the White House in 2021, has been confirmed. CNN earlier reported on Thursday that the call was scheduled for Friday, although the network noted that the former president's schedule, especially during his Milwaukee visit to accept the Republican Party's presidential nomination, is often subject to change.
Trump has announced that he would aim to end the ongoing war in Ukraine swiftly if elected in the upcoming November 5th election. However, he has not provided specific details on his plan to achieve this. A Trump campaign representative declined to comment on the matter.
