The CPI(M) on Friday demanded that cases filed against individuals waving Palestinian flags during Muharram processions be withdrawn, urging the BJP-led central government to express unequivocal solidarity with Palestine.
In a statement, the Left party called for the immediate release of detained or arrested individuals, noting that cases were filed primarily in BJP-governed states under stringent laws. 'The CPI(M) politburo demands immediate withdrawal of criminal cases filed against people for waving Palestinian flags during Muharram processions,' it said.
Referring to reports, the party stated that cases were filed in Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand, accusing the BJP-led government of hypocrisy regarding its support for Palestine. The CPI(M) also demanded the withdrawal of cases and the immediate release of detainees.
