Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole on Friday confirmed that seat-sharing negotiations for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the upcoming assembly elections will be managed at the state level, with the alliance itself serving as the Opposition's collective face.

Patole addressed reporters following a party meeting that included key state leaders, Congress general secretary K C Venugopal, and Maharashtra in-charge Ramesh Chennithala. He assured that the Congress will counter the 'fake narrative' propagated by the BJP since 2014.

While seat-sharing discussions among MVA allies, including the Sharad Pawar-led NCP and Shiv Sena (UBT), are yet to commence, Patole emphasized that the state Congress leadership will initiate talks with Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray soon. A meeting will be scheduled shortly to finalize these discussions.

'Our high command has made it clear that seat-sharing talks will be state-managed, and the MVA will be the face of the Opposition,' Patole reiterated, stressing that the current Mahayuti coalition government has harmed Maharashtra's social and economic well-being. He also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the stalled Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj memorial project in the Arabian Sea.
