Thirty-five congressional Democrats have publicly called on President Joe Biden to end his re-election bid. This comes after Biden's 81-year-old incumbent showed a halting performance during a debate against Republican rival Donald Trump.

The group of dissenting Democrats represents over one-eighth of all Democrats in Congress, where Biden's party controls 213 seats in the House of Representatives and 51 in the Senate. This dissenting group includes prominent names such as Senators Sherrod Brown of Ohio and Martin Heinrich of New Mexico, among others.

Representatives like Mark Takano from California and Raul Grijalva from Arizona have joined in voicing their concerns about Biden’s candidacy. Their collective call underlines a significant concern within the party about the president's capacity to secure another term.
