In the wake of the Supreme Court's refusal to cancel the NEET-UG 2024 examination, Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Kapil Sibal has called for a full-scale overhaul of the National Testing Agency (NTA). Sibal expressed concerns over the agency's ability to manage a nationwide exam of this scale under its current system.

Addressing news agency ANI, Sibal acknowledged the Supreme Court's admission that there had been a paper leak. "The Supreme Court has tasked IIT Delhi with investigating how to manage such issues and asked for evidence about the leak's extent. They concluded it was localized, sparing many students from unjust consequences," he noted. Sibal praised the court for its prompt, nuanced approach but raised broader questions about repeated exam leaks under the current administration.

The Supreme Court bench, including Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, emphasized that there was no systemic breach impacting the entire exam. Data revealed no widespread leak disrupting the exam's integrity. However, the bench acknowledged that leaks in specific centers like Hazaribagh and Patna involved dozens of students benefiting from fraudulent practices.
