BJP Delegation Urges Karnataka Governor for Equitable Fund Distribution

A BJP delegation has submitted a memorandum to Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, seeking equitable distribution of development funds for Kalyana Karnataka districts. They allege the majority of funds are currently allocated to Congress MLAs, resulting in stagnation for districts represented by BJP and JD(S) MLAs.

A BJP delegation submitted a memorandum to Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Tuesday, urging his intervention in ensuring equitable fund distribution for Kalyana Karnataka's district development projects. The delegation alleged that most of the funds are being allotted to Congress MLAs, leaving little for opposition BJP and JD(S) members.

The BJP noted that Karnataka Chief Minister had declared a Rs 5,000 crore grant for the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB) in the 2024-25 budget. The current breakdown of funds includes five per cent for the Chief Minister, three per cent for the Board Chairman, three per cent for the Planning Manager, and five per cent for each of the six District In-charge Ministers.

According to the BJP, approximately Rs 2,000 crore is distributed as per this allocation, while the remaining Rs 3,000 crore predominantly goes to Congress MLAs. This allocation method denies equitable distribution to BJP and JD(S) MLAs, causing stagnation in Kalyana Karnataka district development. The memorandum also highlighted that BJP and JD(S) MLAs are not included on the KKRDB board, calling for immediate state government intervention to correct these disparities.
