Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai on Wednesday criticized Chief Minister M K Stalin's decision to boycott the July 27 NITI Aayog meeting in Delhi, describing the move as 'theatrical.'
Annamalai highlighted that the Union Budget was designed to benefit low-income groups, women, youth, and farmers. He accused Stalin of misleading the public by claiming that Tamil Nadu was ignored because it was not mentioned by name in the budget speech. According to Annamalai, previous Congress-DMK UPA governments also failed to name Tamil Nadu in budget speeches between 2004 and 2014.
Annamalai questioned if Stalin was implying no schemes were provided for Tamil Nadu during those years, pointing out that Tamil Nadu received ten times more through budget announcements under the BJP Government from 2014 to 2024 than during the UPA era. The BJP leader called on Stalin to abandon 'empty theatrics' aimed at self-promotion and instead engage in constructive politics for the state's development.
