Congress Slams NDA's Budget for Discrimination

Congress MP Manish Tewari criticizes NDA's Union Budget, stating it is discriminatory. He, along with other opposition leaders, held protests in Parliament, claiming only Bihar and Andhra Pradesh benefited from the Budget, leaving other states neglected.

Congress MP Manish Tewari took a dig at the NDA government, questioning their claims of no discrimination in the Union Budget, suggesting he had to verify the dictionary's definition of 'discrimination.' Tewari asserted, 'Discrimination is writ large over the Budget.'

He further stated, 'If there is no discrimination in the Budget, then I will have to check the meaning of 'discrimination' again. The Budget is indicative of the coalition compulsions of the current NDA-BJP government, a classical case of the tail wagging the dog.'

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also accused the Budget of favoring opposition-ruled states, pointing out that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's speech mentioned projects only for two states. Kharge criticized the Budget, claiming it was designed to secure the support of JD-U and TDP, necessary for the BJP-led government's survival.

Kharge added, 'The Budget presented yesterday left most states empty-handed. Only Bihar and Andhra Pradesh were mentioned, while states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Delhi received nothing. This Budget is to save the government's chair.'

The opposition INDIA bloc MPs protested in the Parliament complex, raising slogans criticizing the 'Opposition-ing Chair Saving Budget.' Leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi participated in the protest.
