Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin launched a sharp attack against the BJP at the Centre over the 2024-25 Union Budget, calling it 'revenge' against the country. Stalin warned of more electoral defeats for the BJP due to its 'mistake after mistake.'

He boycotted the Niti Aayog meeting, accusing the Union Budget of showing a discriminatory attitude towards Tamil Nadu by disregarding disaster relief pleas and significant state projects like Chennai Metro Rail's second phase.

In response, Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai dismissed Stalin's allegations, releasing data to show funds disbursed to Tamil Nadu for central schemes. He asserted that the BJP-led government has eased the tax burden on middle-class people, comparing tax slabs under UPA and BJP regimes.
