The BJP on Sunday criticized the AAP-led Delhi government over the tragic coaching centre flooding that claimed the lives of three civil services aspirants, calling it a 'murder' and demanding the resignation of Water Minister Atishi. BJP's Delhi president Virendra Sachdeva also sought a Rs 3 crore compensation for the bereaved families.
'This is a murder, not an accident,' stated Sachdeva, accusing the AAP of record-breaking corruption. He called for the resignation of both Atishi and AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak, who oversees the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Sachdeva also alleged 'criminal negligence' by MCD and the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), demanding legal action against responsible officers.
BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj pointed out that locals had complained about waterlogging from a choked drain since July 22, but AAP MLA Pathak took no action. In response, Pathak acknowledged drainage system issues and blamed the BJP's 15-year tenure at MCD. He emphasized the need for an impartial investigation and strict actions against those responsible.
