The Jharkhand BJP announced its intention to raise concerns about Bangladeshi infiltration during the current monsoon session of the state assembly, scheduled to reconvene on Monday.

This decision emerged from a legislature meeting held by the party on Sunday evening. In his statement, Amar Kumar Bauri, the Leader of Opposition, declared that the ruling JMM-led alliance government is on the decline. He emphasized the need for government accountability on pressing issues such as Bangladeshi infiltration, demographic shifts, and corruption.

Bauri highlighted the decreasing tribal population in Jharkhand's Santhal Pargana region, contrasting it with the rising number of Bangladeshi infiltrators. He noted that the tribal population dropped from 44% in 1951 to 28% in 2011, while the Muslim population increased from 9% to 22%. Bauri criticized the government for its failure to protect the tribal community and for not fulfilling promises made over the past five years, including job provision and youth unemployment allowances. The monsoon session, beginning on Friday, will also feature the presentation of the first supplementary budget for 2024-25 and several bills, concluding on August 2.
