US Mediates to Prevent Israel-Hezbollah Escalation After Deadly Golan Attack

The United States is leading diplomatic efforts to persuade Israel from key strikes in Beirut after a rocket attack on the Golan Heights. Washington aims to prevent a full-scale war between Israel and Hezbollah, as officials urge Israel to avoid targeting densely populated and critical infrastructure areas in Lebanon.

In an urgent bid to avert a broader conflict, the United States is spearheading diplomatic efforts to dissuade Israel from launching key attacks on Beirut or significant infrastructure following a deadly rocket strike on the Golan Heights. According to sources, Washington's aim is to stave off a full-blown war between Israel and Hezbollah.

While Israel and the U.S. have blamed Hezbollah for the attack that killed 12 youths, Hezbollah has denied involvement. The diplomatic push is focused on urging Israel not to target heavily populated areas and critical infrastructure, like airports and bridges in Beirut, said anonymous sources familiar with the discussions.

Lebanese officials, including Deputy Parliament Speaker Elias Bou Saab, believe that avoiding civilian areas can prevent major escalation. Meanwhile, Israel has yet to make any commitments regarding its strikes. A U.S. State Department spokesperson emphasized America's unwavering support for Israel's security but also called for a durable solution to end the cross-border violence.
