On Tuesday, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray emphasized that only the Centre possesses the authority to lift the 50% reservation cap through Parliament, addressing the burning Maratha reservation issue.
Thackeray criticized the Eknath Shinde-led state government, urging for broader deliberations to solve the issue by including various community sections and not just politicians. He called for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's involvement, stating that his MPs would support a law to increase the cap.
Thackeray asserted that the Marathas wouldn't receive justice under the current administration and condemned the ruling party's stance on reservations. He also touched on the redevelopment of the Dharavi slum, advocating for residents to be rehomed in their original locality.
