Israel Targets Beirut Militant in Retaliation Strike
Israel's military conducted an airstrike in Beirut, targeting a militant commander linked to a recent rocket attack on the Golan Heights that killed 12 children and teens. The attack, which Israel attributed to Hezbollah, caused damage in Beirut's southern suburb. Hezbollah has denied involvement in the rocket attack.
Israel's military announced on Tuesday that it carried out an airstrike on Beirut, targeting a militant commander allegedly responsible for the deaths of 12 children and teens in a weekend rocket attack on the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights.
Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant stated that Hezbollah had 'crossed a red line,' attributing the rocket attack to the militant group, which has denied any involvement. The office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not immediately comment but later released a photo showing Netanyahu with top security officials.
A Hezbollah official and the group's TV station confirmed that an Israeli airstrike struck Hezbollah's stronghold south of Beirut, causing damage. The strike damaged several buildings near a hospital. Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported that the attack involved a drone launching three rockets.
