BJP Criticizes Congress Over Caste Controversy

The BJP has criticized Congress and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for escalating a caste controversy. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra clarified that Anurag Thakur did not mention Gandhi's caste during the Union Budget discussion, despite the upheaval it caused in the Lok Sabha. Congress' behavior is deemed arrogant by the BJP.

The BJP on Wednesday criticized the Congress for escalating the caste controversy and questioned the objection to Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's caste being questioned, especially when Gandhi has inquired about the castes of government officials, judges, and journalists.

The ruling party emphasized that Anurag Thakur did not directly question Gandhi's caste during his speech on the Union Budget in the Lok Sabha. Nonetheless, Gandhi took offense, leading to an uproar in the House. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra noted that Gandhi can ask about anyone's caste, so why shouldn't his own be questioned?

Patra further remarked that Congress has been promoting arrogance in Parliament, with Rahul Gandhi and his party members often showing disrespect for parliamentary norms. He also condemned Gandhi's past comments on Prime Minister Modi's caste and the introduction of caste issues in various schemes and policies.
